About Kathryn
I am an actor, comic and writer based in London. I have been writing and performing live comedy for 15 years. My live shows as part of duo That Pair, and my critically acclaimed solo character comedy Loo Roll, were sell-out hits at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and transferred to the Soho Theatre. I have been performing more recently as a solo stand-up, and won the Vault Festival Comedy Award in that guise.
I have developed ideas in the writers' room for Hat Trick’s panel show Hypothetical along with some short form sketches for CBBC's Crackerjack. I was part of the writers' room for Series 6 for CBBC's Class Dismissed: a BAFTA-award winning sketch show that I am also a lead performer in for Series 5 and 6. In 2019, I took part in the BBC Writers' Room, focused on developing the writing of live comedians for screen. I have written several online comedy sketches for PULPED and I am currently developing scripts for TV and film.
In September 2021, I won the Funny Women Comedy Writing Award - sponsored by Sky Studios, with an extract from my script Personal
I am an actress and theatre maker, and co-created and performed in The Scotsman and The Stage award-winning play It's True, It's True, It's True with Breach Theatre, a show that was filmed by and put out on BBC4. I have also developed and performed in several shows for children and young people at the Unicorn Theatre and Polka.
Other Theatre credits include: Madhouse Re: Exit with Access All Areas (The Lowry), Aloe Aloe (Bush Theatre, Romeo & Juliet (The Cambridge Junction), Still Fools (The Arcola). One of the main principles of improvisation is listening and I will create our sessions through doing just that. I lead with a playful energy and focus. Whether you are honing skills for your career or looking to have fun with some performing and writing, we can work through exercises that will increase confidence and add a new magic to your audition, public speaking or writing.
If you are working on writing a play or TV script, I can give notes and tips on structure, character and story.
I have a 1st class BA hons in Acting and have taught comedy, theatre, film and TV skills and improv to all ages.
40 minute to 1 hour long sessions usually work.
