I have a degree in business, and have started a degree in music education. I have played piano for over 10 years, completing my AMEB Grade 7 exam (grade 5 is necessary to teach) and I have given piano lessons for over a year.

My teaching methodology varies from student to student, I take time during the first few lessons to understand what kind of learner they are and what kind of system will result in the most practice. A visual learner will need more ear practice (e.g. matching tones) and will benefit from visual cues (stickers on the keys), whereas an auditory learner will need more practice learning to read sheet music.
