  • University of Ilorin

The department was established in 2010 to provide modern biological and engineering principles. Candidates seeking admission into the department are expected to possess a minimum of five credits in Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or it's equivalent.

These courses include English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. Those coming in as direct entry students are expected to possess at least five credits in SSCE or its equivalent.

There are also expected to possess GCE ‘A’ Level or its equivalent in Physics, Mathematics and Biology/Chemistry not below ‘C’ or OND with a minimum of Upper Credit in Biomedical Engineering or Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

For direct Entry admission into 300 Level of the B/Eng. Degree in Biomedical Engineering, the candidate is expected to possess at least five credits in SSCE or its equivalent and HND with a minimum of Upper Credit in Biomedical Engineering or others as listed above.

The department offers a B/Eng. Degree at a duration of five academic sessions for students that entered through UTME. Four academic sessions for Post ‘A’ Level and OND and three academic sessions for HND direct entry.

The department focuses its speciality on Biomedical Instrumentation and Micro/Nano Systems, Cell and Tissue Engineering and Computational Bioengineering

  • The Technical University Ibadan

The department is under the faculty of Natural Science of the School. The department initially houses two programs known as the Electrical/Electronic Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering. Until recently, the two programs were merged to form a full-fledged academic department.

The department was set-up to help teach students of the department introductory biology and the best ways to develop and fabricate clinically certified and translatable devices and equipment for medical applications. This is done through the integration of knowledge of science, biology, medicine, and engineering centred system. The University offers a B.Eng. Biomedical Engineering degree
