About Serena
I’m a singing tutor with over ten years of experience and a Licentiate of Music in Voice. I specialize in working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and anyone returning to singing after a break. My teaching style is relaxed and supportive, creating a low-pressure space where you can learn comfortably and confidently. I focus a lot on breathwork, vocal relaxation, and posture to help you sing with ease and avoid strain. Mindfulness in music is also a key part of my approach, encouraging you to connect deeply with your voice and the songs you love. Tone development is something I’m passionate about, helping you find your unique sound. I teach a range of genres, including Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult, so there’s plenty of room to explore what moves you. Singing, to me, is not just about technique—it’s a powerful form of self-care, creativity, and building confidence. Whether you’re starting fresh or picking up where you left off, I’m here to support your journey every step of the way. Both personas should explore song adaptability by experimenting with various genres—pop, jazz, classical, or musical theatre—adapting phrasing and dynamics accordingly. The Advanced Teen can focus on solo expression and improvisation, while The Quartet Player emphasizes blending and harmonizing within a group. Regularly switching roles builds versatility and a keen ear for ensemble balance. Emotional connection is strengthened by interpreting lyrics and storytelling through voice, fostering genuine audience engagement.
Practice sessions combine technical drills with creative exercises, keeping motivation high. Integrate short recording projects in DAWs to monitor progress over time.
