There are several languages spoken in the world we live in today. Most times, each continent have a different language and culture. In some cases, the countries of these continents may even speak different languages. At the same time, some other countries speak different languages per region or state.

The truth is, language is an essential part of the culture of a nation. It is one of the legacies that our forefathers have left behind, and as such, should continue even when they're no longer here. That is why you'll see a Chinese speaking Mandarin fluently and with so much confidence. And you'll see Americans upholding their version of English against the other versions of English.

Africa is a multilingual continent. That means there are several languages on the African continent. If you think you can learn all African languages, you may need to reconsider. For instance, a country like the Benin republic speaks French majorly. But a neighbouring country, Nigeria - the giants of Africa, hardly speak French.

In Nigeria alone, there are more than 50 tribes. Now, each of these tribes has its respective language and culture. Although there are three major tribes in the country; Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa, there are several other minor tribes. But the moment you call an Edo indigene Igbo, they begin to protest that they are not Igbo. Of course, when you trace it to the source, you'll realize that Edo indigenes are not Igbo.

With diverse languages, ethnic cultures, and beliefs, we all still have to agree as a nation. That means we must find a way to dialogue to agree on decisions that affect every one of us. We can't possibly communicate with our different languages, as no one will understand. As a result, what we need is to learn a language that everyone understands - a neutral language.

In Nigeria and on the global scene, the official language is English language. Now there are four different recognized types of English language. We have American English, British English, Canadian English, and Australian English. For Nigeria, whose colonial masters were British, they coin their English from British English.

Since English is the conversational language that most people communicate in, it's always safer to learn the language. That doesn't mean you're neglecting your tribal language; it only means you want to understand the common language, English Language.

Mosalingua

There have been so many reports of our brains retaining images relatively quickly. Well, if you choose to take online English lessons in Nigeria with mosalingua, you'll be learning with pictures. This application works for both Android phones and iPhones. The app teaches you English by displaying repetitive flashcards with different sentences and words. As these cards display, you learn new words and sentences. Since these cards repeat themselves, you can remind yourself continuously.

The first experience of this application you'll get is a test of your grammar and pronunciation. No, don't get scared! This test isn't to disgrace you; it's a test to ascertain your English language level. That way, the app will know where to start from and what words and sentences you should see on the flashcards when you start to learn to speak.

Not only does it translate to your mother tongue, but you can also translate from your mother tongue back to the English language. You can also learn English on Duolingo by listening.
