When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?
I developed an interest in my chosen field about 5 years ago but I started private tutoring about 3 years ago.
Tell us more about the subject you teach, and the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).
I teach mathematics, further mathematics, physics, and SPSS, just to mention a few things.
Some of the topics include: Algebra, Factorizations, Surds, just to mention a few. Some topics I like a little less include circle theorem, vectors and mechanics, etc.
Did you have any role models; or a teacher that inspired you?
Well, I'll say one or two, W.F kumuyi for one and also my Secondary mathematics teacher because of his simplicity in explanation.
What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
The qualities required to be a good tutor is the ability to pass and impart knowledge, you must be apt, you must be focused also.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
Okay whilst in my final year of secondary school, my then mathematics teacher promised anyone who got all the answers to the objective question a cash gift. Though I got 27/30 in the objective question but I aced all in the theoretical aspect, so he compensated me for the job well done.
What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?
Some of the difficulties were topics like angles basically.
Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?
Yes right from time I have an innate passion for teaching that has been nurtured and developed.
