How Can You Find an Online Academic Support Tutor on Superprof?
It’s easily done. On the site, you just need to search for the subject you want tuition in. If it’s schooling in general, you can just look for “Academic Tutoring”. Then you need to put in your location.
You’ll be presented with a list of suitable tutors in the area. You can choose to search for “Nearby” tutors or “Online” tutors. When you switch to “Online”, you’ll get even more results! Don’t hesitate to filter your results by rate, the response time (the more responsive, the better), and level.
How Much Does It Cost to Use Superprof?
You can view as many profiles as you want, but if you want to get in touch with tutors, you’ll need to get a Student Pass for £29 for the month. While your monthly Student Pass is active, you can contact as many tutors as you want during the month and cancel the subscription at any time.
Once you’ve chosen a tutor, all payments are between you and them. The tutors set their rates and Superprof doesn’t take any commission. You may want to ask about discounts for block-booking, etc. as tutors might reduce their rates for regular work.

Sherpa
Sherpa is a platform that offers one-to-one online tuition and it functions in a similar way to Superprof. You just need to search for the subject you want to study.
You can filter by level, qualified teachers, and DBS checked, too, which is important if they'll be working unsupervised with primary or secondary school students. You can also filter by hourly rate, which is very useful if you’re on a budget.
Tutors on the platform tend to start at £15 per hour but the most experienced tutors can charge upwards of £50 an hour.

Tutor Hunt
Tutor Hunt is a tutoring platform that offers both in-person and online tutoring, though the latter is probably the more popular choice at the moment.
You can search for tutors by level, subject, and location. It's free to browse the tutors' profiles but you will have to either pay a finder's fee or the platform will take a commission from the tutor once you decide to work with a given tutor.
The average finder's fee on the platform is £24, which is lower than the typical tutoring agency.
As for tutors on a commission, Tutor Hunt takes between 20% and 25%, which means you don't have to pay an upfront fee for the tutor, but their rates may be inflated to account for the commission they have to pay.
The lessons include a virtual whiteboard that the tutor and student can work on together, which is pretty handy for online learning.

First Tutors
First Tutors is a tutoring platform offering private tuition both in-person and online in different subjects. While the former mightn't be too useful during the coronavirus pandemic, there are plenty of tutors and resources that can help both children and their parents online.
First Tutors uses a similar system to Tutor Hunt's finder's fee and you can browse the tutors' profiles for free and even contact them without making a payment.
Once you've decided on which tutor to work with, you'll have to pay the "intro fee" of between £4.99 and £24.99 to get the tutor's details. This fee is based on the tutor's hourly rates so the more expensive the tutor you hire, the more the intro fee will cost.
Tutorful
To ensure your child keeps up with their learning during the coronavirus pandemic, consider getting an online tutor on Tutorful. Tutorful also offers both in-person and online one-to-one lessons.
Much like other tutoring platforms, it's free to browse the tutors' profiles and even contact them. As for booking lessons, however, everything is done through the platform. The tutor books in the lesson for their student and you won't be charged until 24 hours after the session.
As for the tutors, they will be charged a 25% fee for up to 250 hours of tuition which drops to 20% after they've taught over 250 hours. It's free for the tutors to sign up, but with between a fifth and a quarter of their earnings going to the platform, their rates may be inflated.
It’s up to you to try a few different ones out and see which platform works for you. It's important to understand how each platform works as it will affect the quality of the tutor you can get and how much they charge.
