With a love of reading myself, I am keen to give reading lessons to primary and secondary school age children, supporting any help and official programmes they are currently receiving at school by either following the same programme, following a different programme, or simply casually exploring the world of literature with the child.
There are multiple workbooks to use for 11+ tutorial, and I would be happy to work through them alongside the child, giving instruction and reassurance where needed.
For phonetics, there are many workbooks out there that we can work through together, and I will explain and give examples and exercises as we go along.
I have never officially given lessons before, but, at school, I was always sharing my favourite books and encouraging friends and others to read more and trying to spread the joy of reading.
I took the 11+ exam in 2004. I did not pass - I was accepted into the school anyway via appeal - but came very close. I consider the level I attained in the exam exceptional anyway, considering I only had 12 hours tutorial before taking the exam!
At university, I understood phonetics more easily than my coursemates, and so were always giving my own additional explanations, tips and examples.
