Taking into consideration that, classroom teaching is believe to be a dynamic environment, because it involves bringing together students from different backgrounds with various abilities and personalities. As a result, I do adopt creative and innovative teaching strategies in order to meet students’ individual needs. Some of the teaching methods I adopted includes:
i. Cooperative learning method, this encourage students of mixed abilities to work together by promoting small group or whole class activities.
ii. Inquiry-based instruction, this method pose thought-provoking questions to the students and this invariably inspire my students to have a deep thought about the topic. think for themselves and become more independent learners.
I approach each topic through the usage of interactive whiteboard and projector to display audio clips, a method that bring dull academic concepts to life with visual and practical learning experiences and it also exhibit visual impression about the topic.
The lesson structure is based on my course outline which serves as a guide for my teaching plan and purposeful activities during the class. In the lesson structure I define the objectives of the course and purpose. I also laid emphasizes on the key topics and related concepts. My presentation techniques are well structured in my teaching plan.
I am a Senior Lecturer at Department of International Relations, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. I have my first degree in Political Science, M.Sc in International Relations and P.hD in Political Science. I am having over 15 Years of teaching experience as Lecturer in different tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Currently I am teaching different subjects in the field of International Relations at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, Nigeria. I was a visiting fellow at the Department of Political Science, University of Florida, USA (June, 2010). I have won a research grant from American Political Science Association, NW, Washington DC. (2009). I have gained external recognition by winning academic fellowship at the highly regarded Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA).
