I have a Degree in Composition from The Juilliard School and a Bachelor's Degree from Belgrade Music University.
I am a current music faculty at the Juilliard School, visiting faculty at FaceArt Music InterNations in Shanghai, past faculty at 92nd Street Y, teaching artist American Composers Orchestra and the founder of Paracademia Center Inc, a non-profit organization for music education and performance, where I offer training in composition, film scoring, production, sound design and choreo-comp.
My teaching approach is collaborative rather than “top down”. I try to draw the best from each student, recognizing that not all students have the same level of talent or ability. I believe, however, that, regardless of talent or ability, all students are capable of the highest levels of commitment and motivation, and this is what I try to bring out and reinforce.
25 years of teaching experience.
My teaching style combines my formal music training, (Master’s Degree in composition from the Juilliard School), with a multicultural and multi-aesthetic angle, giving performances, lectures and master-classes worldwide.
I strongly believe that music arts education and performance are inseparable; I always incorporate a live performance aspect in my education efforts. I believe this gives the students a tangible objective on which to focus their studies. I also believe that music and the arts are catalysts for improving, advancing and restoring any community (be it a school, village or country), and that it can be a vehicle for teaching or coaching many other skills – communication, collaboration, time-management, administration and entrepreneurship.
